Art is best when it takes you someplace else.

Whether it’s the dust jacket of a science fiction novel, concept art for the latest video game or a centuries-old fresco painted on the Pope’s ceiling, art redefines and expands the human spaces that we occupy.

I am most influenced by both the great artists of early modern Europe, such as Michelangelo and Rubens, and the working illustrators of the 20th century, such as Frank Frazetta.

Following those influences, I strive in my own work to combine solid draftsmanship with a sense of narrative. The characters in an illustration are always somewhere, doing something. I try to discover the attitude, then the expression, and finally I let the details of the costume and accessories follow from there.
